In order to take care of the large crowds Easter Sunday various churches are making all kinds of prepara tions. Some getting out extra chairs. The Congregationalists are having two identical services one at 9:30 and the other at 11; The Episcopal Church will have three services: at 7, 9, and 11 a. m. Special music by the Junior Choir at 9 and the Adult Choir at 11. . . Farmer Gray reported this morn ing that the Oldsmobile driven by John Stratford was hit by another 'jjjggjss he was making a left hand Damage to Stratford car estimated at $2,000. No report was given as to anyone being in jured. . . Tryon friends are inter ested in Jane Dalton’s election as secretary-treasurer of the Ration al Association of Women Radio Broadcasters. . . Mrs. Baxter Haynes was listed in the Spartan burg Herald as one of the winners in the Spartanburg Bridge tourna ment. . . GOVERNOR SCOTT COMING. Carroll P. Rogers, chairman Polk history has re ceived official information that Governor and Mrs. Kerr Scott will come to Tryon Saturday, April 19th to attend the unveiling of the Historical marker near the Block .Continued on Back Page__ Woman Killed At Crossing Mrs. Crowell Burgess was kill ed this morning about 9:07 when the 1941 Ford she was driving was hit by a Southern Railway freight train at Gilbert’s Cross ing near the lumber plant at the city limits south of Landrum. Her two daughters, Joan Bur gess 11, and Margaret 9, riding i with her were injured. Joan was j taken to St. Lukes Hospital with serious head injuries and was still unconsious at noon. Mar garet was taken to the home of her grandmother, near New Pros pect, S. C. The mother’s body was taken to Callahan Funeral Home in Spartanburg. Mrs. Burgess was entering Lan drum from the Chesnee road and attempted to cross the railroad to reach Highway 176.
